Fertilization Report/100th Post

Well this is my 100th post...I wish I had better news...but I guess it could be worse!! I got the fertilization report about 1:00 because they called when I was at work and I didn't hear the phone. She said that out of the 8 eggs they retrieved 6 were mature. They did ICSI on those 6 and 4 are now in petri dishes. I know it could be worse but those numbers are so frustrating. Now I know why IUI's weren't working if only half the eggs were viable. I'm so nervous that something is going to happen to those 4. I'm praying that they all make it and we can transfer 2 and freeze 2. Please say some prayers for us!! They will look at them on Saturday and let me know if I"m doing a 3 day or 5 day transfer. I"m hoping for a 5 day since the rates are supposedly better. If anyone could send some extra prayers my way I would appreciate it;)

I went to work today. It wasn't too bad. At first I was in slow motion...but 4 and 5 year olds will take care of that;) I started my edometrium inserts today and I do not like them!! They don't make me feel bad but the whole thing kind of grosses me out!! But I will use them for 9 months if it helps me have a baby!!
Please go give my friend at RES COGITATAE some love she got her fertilization report today. Also my friend at GOOD EGG HUNTING had her fertilization report yesterday.
I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL DAY!!

I am thinking the most positive thoughts for you! They say it only takes one and they are right... keep your hope alive. So many docs believe it is quality that matters, and I am sure they are great quality embryos!!!

Hang in there, and if it is a 3 day, no worries! There are a zillion 3 day transfer babies. :)

Hugs, and happy 100th post!
Carrie

Four is a great number. It's double what I had! I hope they keep growing, dividing and thriving. It's quality not quantity right?

Just remember I was a 2 day transfer if that makes you feel better.

Of course you're getting my good thoughts! :)

Just a maybe positive thought (I'm not naive enough to think that hearing other people's good stories will make things less stressful!)... we had 8 eggs retrieved, 6 were good, 3 fertilized, 2 cleaved... and here we are expecting fraternal twins from those 2 embryos... after a 3 day transfer! :)

My RE would only do a 5 day transfer if you had 5+ good embryos. If it was under 5, then it was automatically a 3 day. Either way, Carrie makes a good point about there being zillions of 3 day babies! :) But of course, I can completely understand your desire to wish that everything would go the absolute best that it can!

Best of luck!! Can't wait to hear on Saturday!!

I will definitely be thinking and praying for you! I've heard of women only having 1 or 2 and they have babies, so there is still so much hope sweetie! (((HUGS)))

Remember, all you need is one good egg. You'll get it. Thinking of you!

Hey, I completely understand your frustrations. You think- we've got all these eggs, how can half of them be bad?!

But, as so many have said to me, four is not at all a bad number. And I will be hoping that they are all super strong embies so that you can transfer two and freeze two.

GOOD LUCK!

Oh yes, I read something somewhere about Day 3 vs 5 transfers. I gather that more embryos stop growing between Days 3 and 5 because it really isn't an ideal environment for them So the good rates from Day 5 could be because only the super duper embies make it that far...but maybe a weaker embryo has a chance if it gets put back in its proper environment on Day 3. So I think either will give you a great shot!
