Is lower back pain common around 15 weeks or should I check with the Dr? I'm also thinking about getting a prenatal massage...anyone recommend?? I felt so horrible yesterday that I have to do something. It was my worst day yet...threw-up ( I thought the 2nd trimester meant no more throwing up;), migraine, and backache!! I didn't even get out of my pj's. I hope you ladies have a wonderful day!

I had back aches my entire pregnancy with both of my boys I got one of those maternity belt things they sell at motherhood maternity and it helped me a lot. Here is the link to them http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=973050111&MasterCategory_Id=MC32
I have been having some back aches lately too and I was in my 12th week. You can always call teh nurse and ask just to feel better. Mine said it was fine. A prenatal massage sounds soooooo good.

I think back pain is pretty common (I'm already having it at 12 weeks) but I would call the nurse just to be safe. I didn't feel better until a few weeks into my second trimester last time (around 17 weeks) so hopefully you will begin to feel better soon.
I also think it is not a big deal, although it HURTS and I wish you felt better! Unless you have cramps too, I would not worry.
Definitely go get a massage! I wish I had this time before bed rest set in! I have also heard many good things about those support thingies. I might need one just for laying on the couch!
Hang in there!
Lower back pain is a typical pregnancy symptom. I've had weird pains that appeared and then disappeared throughout. The one that's consistent was upper back pain (unusual).
Prenatal massage = good! Just make sure you have dr. approval.
And with the throwing up... you never know. I threw up really bad at 19 weeks, and then it's started again in the 3rd tri due to bad heartburn. Nothing particular seems to trigger... but it's no fun.
~~HUGS~~
I had terrible back pain around that time. It's very common but check with your doctor to make sure you don't have a kidney infection. Lower back pain is sometimes a symptom of that. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it. Take a little tylenol if it gets too bad. And about the massage just make sure they don't do certain pressure points because they can cause premature labor. Hope you feel better soon!
Back pain is very normal! I get sciatic pain all the time (so annoying)! A heating pad can work wonders, or a warm bath (not too hot!).
I know you can take Tylenol.
I think prenatal massage is a great idea. I never did it.
Sorry you had such a rough day. Tomorrow WILL be better!!!

hey hun! saw your comment on the headaches. mine lasted pretty much the whole second tri. i would drink a pop and that sometimes helped. if i really needed to, i would take reg. strength tylonel, but only every few days at most. the doc assured me it was safe!!
im getting a prenatal massage this saturday. ill let you know it i think its worth it!
I don't have back pain but I have had this weird thing where my lower right hip/upper butt (sorry) get numb every night from sleeping on it, and then I can hardly walk initially in the morning it hurts so much. I was told this is normal -- from the increased weight on nerves or something. So I think back pain is totally normal -- same thing. I even had cramps yesterday and the nurse was not fazed in the least -- told me to drink more water and sure enough they disappeared. Like you I have been getting killer headaches! But I also get them when I have PMS so I'm sure they're from hormones. I have a massage scheduled for this Saturday but I think I am going to reschedule...I am being a big chicken and just want to run it by my doctor on Monday before going. I am sure it is fine, though, as long as the person is trained in prenatal massage. I hope you enjoy!
I had a ton of back pain around 14-15 weeks, and from all I've heard it's normal. Oh, and I heartily recommend a prenatal massage -- I've been getting them about once every 2-3 weeks since the end of the first trimester and they're so wonderful.
I didn't start to feel better until 16-17 weeks but I know my mom was ill the entire 9 months with all her pregnancies...ugh! I got a massage and adjustment around 23 weeks and it was nice except they had me lay in some really unusual positions. I am glad that yours was much better!
My back has hurt with both of my kids and the one I am prego with now. It is never ending. Get off your feet as much as possible!
On a different note...check out the baby blog swap I am hosting...let me know if you are interested in joining in. :)
